Strengthening of reinforced concrete slab using CFRP in Abaqus
In this illustration we intend to simulate strengthening of reinforced concrete slab using CFRP in the Abaqus software , or in other words , we intend to simulate the concrete slab reinforced with rebar and CFRP in the Abaqus software
The Length and width of concrete slab is 3 meters and an axial load with an amount of 98 K Newton will be applied to the concrete slab

CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer ) sheet is composed of two layers , the thickness of each layer is 0.5 mm
Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer sheet is modeled as three dimensional shell part with elastic material (Lamina) couple with fail stress
In this picture you can observe the Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer ( CFRP ) sheet along with the rebars as well as supporters

The concentrated force is applied to the rigid body in interaction with concrete slab and during the simulation the damage propagated on the concrete slab
You can see the tensile damage in concrete slab

We intend to evaluate Tsai-Hill , Tsai-Wu and Azzi-Tsai-Hill failure criterion which are used for composites. According to Tsai-Hill failure criterion , if the quantities of Tsai-Hill is lower than 1 , the composites will not sustain damage and failure and if Tsai-Hill quantities are higher than 1 , the composites will sustain damage and failure

As you can observe here , Tsai-Hill quantities are lower than 1 , so the composites will not sustain damage and failure
You can see the stress contour in rebars in picture below

In this picture, you can see the Azzi-Tsai-Hill failure criterion for CFRP as composite
