Simulation backfill sand supported by a concrete retaining wall ABAQUS
Retaining walls are structural members used to support vertical or nearly vertical soil backfills
A retaining wall, for example, can be used to retain the backfill
in this example , we apply a 7 kPa surcharge pressure at the surface of the backfill
The sand layer is 3 m high. A 3-m-high retaining wall provides lateral support to the soil
in step 1, The self-weight of the backfill soil was then applied using the“gravity” option
in step 2 , we apply a 7 kPa surcharge pressure at the surface of the backfill
The base of the sand layer is fixed in all directions
In analysis we calculate the lateral earth pressure exerted on the concrete retaining wall
