This Abaqus tutorial is designed
to help you understand how to calculate the
change in the length of a rod due to its own weight
using the Abaqus software and
Strength of Materials.
In this training, we first calculate the change in the length of
the bar using Strength of Materials. Then, the
same problem is modeled and analyzed using the
Abaqus software. Finally, the results obtained
from Abaqus are compared with those obtained from Strength of
Materials.
Problem Description
In this problem, a steel bar with a length of
1 meter undergoes its own weight.
The main purpose of this problem is to calculate the
change in the length of the bar due to its own weight
and compare the results obtained from Abaqus with the results
obtained using Strength of Materials.
