Project Overview
In this Abaqus project, the force and deflection of a rod assembly are calculated using both Abaqus and an analytical solution. The numerical results obtained from Abaqus are then compared with the analytical results.
The model consists of Rod DF, Rod CE, and Rod ABCD. The main objective is to determine the forces in Rod DF and Rod CE and the deflection of point A.

Model Geometry
The length of Rod DF is 30 inches, while the length of Rod CE is 24 inches. The total length of Rod ABCD is 38 inches.
Calculation of Forces in the Rods
The forces in Rod DF and Rod CE are first calculated using the Abaqus simulation. The obtained forces are then compared with the corresponding values from the analytical solution.
Force in Rod DF
The force in Rod DF obtained from the Abaqus simulation is 7499 lb, while the force obtained from the analytical solution is 7500 lb.
The very small difference between the two results demonstrates the close agreement between the Abaqus simulation and the analytical solution.

Force in Rod CE
The force in Rod CE obtained from the Abaqus simulation is 2501 lb, while the analytical solution gives a force of 2500 lb.
The Abaqus result is therefore in very close agreement with the analytical solution.

Deflection of Point A
After calculating the forces in the rods, the deflection of point A is obtained from the Abaqus simulation and compared with the analytical solution.
The deflection of point A obtained from Abaqus is 0.04348 inch, while the analytical solution gives a deflection of 0.0432 inch.

Comparison with Analytical Solution
The results obtained from Abaqus are very close to the results of the analytical solution for both the rod forces and the deflection of point A.
This comparison provides a useful verification of the Abaqus model and demonstrates that the numerical simulation can accurately reproduce the expected mechanical response of the system.
