Product Overview

In this example, we intend to simulate the shear-bending yielding damper under cyclic loading in the Abaqus software.

As you observe in the picture, the yielding damper is composed of shear plate, flexural plate, and end plate.

Cyclic Loading

In this analysis, a cyclic loading is applied to the model to investigate the behavior of the shear-bending yielding damper under repeated loading and unloading cycles.

The cyclic loading amplitude is defined in Abaqus according to the loading protocol used in the experimental study.

Comparison of Abaqus and Experimental Results

In this picture, the results (force-displacement diagram) obtained from the Abaqus software are compared with the experimental results.

This comparison is used to evaluate the accuracy of the numerical model and its ability to reproduce the experimental behavior of the yielding damper.

Buckling of the Shear Plate

The buckling of the shear plate is investigated in the numerical model and compared with the behavior observed in the experimental specimen.

As you can observe, the buckling behavior of the shear plate in the Abaqus model and experimental sample is compared.

Damage in the Shear Plate

The damage in the shear plate is investigated in the Abaqus model and compared with the damage observed in the experimental sample.

This comparison helps evaluate whether the numerical model can reproduce the damage behavior observed during the experimental test.

Validation

This project has been validated, which means that the results obtained from the Abaqus software are similar to the results reported in the article.

In other words, this project is based on the reference article and the numerical model has been developed to reproduce the behavior of the experimental yielding damper.
