In this question, we intend to calculate the change in the length of the bar due to its weight using the Strength of materials and Abaqus software and then compare the results obtained from the Abaqus software with those gained in the Strength of materials
As you observe in this picture, one Steel bar having a length of 1 meter undergoes its own weight and we intend to calculate the change in its length
The purpose of simulating this problem is to calculate the change in the length of the bar due to the weight of the bar
In the diagram below, change in the length of bar is calculated using Abaqus software
As you observe, the results obtained from the Abaqus software are quite equal to those having been gained in the Strength of materials
