Flat rolling of plate using Abaqus and metal forming book
In this example, we intend to simulate the Flat rolling of plate process in the Abaqus software and then calculate the force applied to the roller or, the force required for implementing the Rolling process
In this training, once we calculate the force applied to the roller using Analytical solution and based on the Metal Forming Book, then calculate the force applied to the roller using the Abaqus software and finally compare the results obtained by them together

In this picture, the results obtained from the Abaqus software have been compared with the analytical results
As you observe, the quantity of force having been obtained by the Analytical Solution has been based on the Metal Forming book is equal to 159000 Newton and the force obtained from the Abaqus software is equal to 177000 Newton. The difference between the results obtained from the Abaqus software with those having got by the Analytical Solution is almost 11%
This problem has been modeled in form of 2D (Plane strain) but we can see that in a 3D manner
