Impact of the bottle full of water with the ground in the Abaqus software

In this example we intend to simulate the impact of the bottle full of water with the ground in the Abaqus software

The bottle is made of “high-density polyethylene” and the elastic, plastic and Damage properties have been defined for the polyethylene bottle

In this example, water has been modelled using Eulerian method and the floor part (ground) has been modelled as rigid part

In this example, the water bottle is dropped from a height of 300 mm and so the initial velocity of the bottle on impact is 2444 mm/second

We apply weight of the bottle, bottle cap, and water using gravity load

As you observe in this picture, the water bottle impacts on the ground at an angle of 20 degrees

As it is observed in this picture when the water bottle hits the ground, the bottle cap separates from the bottle and it moves freely. Also the bottle is deformed to some extent

You observe deformation of water flow as well as the sloshing of water

Water has gushed out of the bottle at the end of the analysis

Water can flow inside Eulerian part and if water exits from eulerian part for any reason , it would actually be removed from calculating domain and you won’t be able to observe deformations of water any longer

You see diagram of reaction force for the floor
