Product Overview

In this example, we intend to simulate the shear-flexural yielding metallic damper under cyclic loading in Abaqus software.

Damper Components

As you observe in the picture, the yielding metallic damper is composed of a shear plate, flexural plate, end plate, and shear tab.

Cyclic Loading

In this problem, a cyclic loading is applied to the damper, and following that its hysteresis diagram will be drawn.

Deformation

In this picture, the deformation of the yielding damper undergoing cyclic loading can be observed.

Hysteresis Diagram

Following the application of cyclic loading, the hysteresis diagram is obtained from the Abaqus results.

Validation

This project has been validated, which means that the results obtained from the Abaqus software are similar to the results of the article.

In other words, this project is based on the reference article.

Reference

This project is based on the reference research article. The research paper is included with the project files and can be used to review the experimental model, cyclic loading, and reported results.
