Simulation 3D Tri-axial Test of soil using Cam Clay plasticity, Cap plasticity, Mohr-Coulomb and Drucker-prager Abaqus
In this example we intend to simulate the 3D tri-axial test of soil using Camclay plasticity , cap plasticity , Mohr-coulomb plasticity and Drucker-prager in the Abaqus software
The soil has been considered in the form of a 3D cylinder with a diameter of 5 cm , and height of 5 cm
The triaxial test is done in two steps , step 1 is a geostatic step in which confining pressure of 210 KPa is applied to the all sides of soil and in the step 2 , a vertical load is applied to the soil until failure
As you know , there are three types of Tri-axial test of soil
Consolidated-Drained (CD)
Consolidated-Undrained (CU)
Unconsolidated-Undrained (UU)
Here we simulate the Consolidated-Drained (CD) triaxial test. Actually we will use the consolidated-drained conditions
The conditions of Consolidated-Drained (CD) triaxial test will be in such a way that first the soil will be exposed to an all-round pressure during which the drainage valve is open to allow the water pore pressure having been caused by the all-round pressure to exit from soil and as it is said , the consolidation would occur. In the step 2, a vertical loading is applied to the soil during which the drainage valve would still be open
We intend to deviator stress versus the axial strain diagram
In this picture the diagram of Cam-clay axis-symmetric model with blue color , Cam-clay 3D model with red color , the Cap plasticity 3D model with yellow color , Mohr-Coulomb 3D model with green color and Drucker-prager 3D model with purple color have all been displayed
We intend to draw volumetric strain versus axial strain diagram
