Simulation 3D Tri-axial Test of soil using Cam Clay plasticity, Cap plasticity, Mohr-Coulomb and Drucker-prager Abaqus

In this example we intend to simulate the 3D tri-axial test of soil using Camclay plasticity , cap plasticity , Mohr-coulomb plasticity and Drucker-prager in the Abaqus software

The soil has been considered in the form of a 3D cylinder with a diameter of 5 cm , and height of 5 cm 

The triaxial test is done in two steps , step 1 is a geostatic step in which confining pressure of 210 KPa is applied to the all sides of soil and in the step 2 , a vertical load is applied to the soil until failure

As you know , there are three types of Tri-axial test of soil

 Consolidated-Drained (CD)

Consolidated-Undrained (CU)

Unconsolidated-Undrained (UU)

 Here we simulate the Consolidated-Drained (CD) triaxial test. Actually we will use the consolidated-drained conditions

The 3D Tri-axial test of soil

The conditions of Consolidated-Drained (CD) triaxial test will be in such a way that first the soil will be exposed to an all-round pressure during which the drainage valve is open to allow the water pore pressure having been caused by the all-round pressure to exit from soil and as it is said , the consolidation would occur. In the step 2, a vertical loading is applied to the soil during which the drainage valve would still be open
