Project Overview

This tutorial focuses on calculating the shearing stress caused by torsion in a steel shaft using the Abaqus software and the Analytical Solution.

The shearing stress is calculated using both methods, and the results obtained from Abaqus and the Analytical Solution are compared to evaluate their agreement.

Problem Description

In this problem, a torque of 100 N·m is applied to the shaft, causing the shaft to undergo torsion.

The objective is to determine the shearing stress produced by the applied torque and compare the result obtained from the Abaqus software with the result obtained from the Analytical Solution.

Abaqus Simulation

The steel shaft is modeled in Abaqus, and a torque of 100 N·m is applied to the shaft. The resulting shearing stress is then obtained from the Abaqus results.

The shearing stress obtained from the Abaqus software is 63.662 MPa.

Analytical Solution

The shearing stress is also calculated using the Analytical Solution. The result obtained from the analytical calculation is 63.66 MPa.

Comparison of Results

Finally, the shearing stress results obtained from the Abaqus software and the Analytical Solution are compared.

As observed, the results obtained from the Abaqus software are precisely similar to those obtained from the Analytical Solution.
